It is rumored that two deer were killed when this rock broke lose and rolled down the mountain.  This interesting evidence of the constant erosion of the canyon.

Just across the road is Eleventh Hour Gulch, check it out you won’t be disappointed.

Continue heading to Savoy and you will find the Little Spearfish Falls Trail.  And behind the Spearfish Canyon Lodge you will find both the 76 Trail and Roughlock Trail.

The hiking options are nearly endless in Spearfish Canyon.  Get out there and explore, it is public land for the public to enjoy!

photo Ice Climber on Bridal Veil Falls Spearfish Canyon South Dakota Bridal Veil Falls offers beauty all year long and, if you are an ice climber, winter recreation.

The frozen falls are really neat to see, I can’t image how amazing it is to climb up the large waterfall.  Community Caves are another frozen waterfall worth visiting.

To find more waterfalls in Spearfish Canyon continue to Savoy, there you will find Little Spearfish Falls and Roughlock Falls.

Mardi Gras

photo Deadwood SD Mardi Gras parade

Deadwood just finished another successful Mardi Gras weekend.  It was great fun with the Cajun Cook-off and cake decorating contest. My favorite was the parade on Saturday.

Here’s a slide show of the parade

Did you go to Mardi Gras in Deadwood?
